The time is in the future and the youth gang violence is so high that the areas around some schools have become "free-fire zones", into which not even the police will venture. When Miles Langford, the head of Kennedy High School, decides to take his school back from the gangs, robotics specialist Dr. Robert Forrest provides "tactical education units". These are amazingly human-like androids that have been programmed to teach and are supplied with devastatingly effective solutions to discipline problems. So when he violent, out-of-control students of Kennedy High report for class tomorrow, they're going to get a real education... in staying alive!

The century is coming to an end, and New York City is freaking out. "1999" takes place at a New Year's Eve party on December 31, 1999. As a group of neurotic characters gather at a Greenwich Village apartment, everyone struggles to come to terms with their identities, relationships, and self-doubts before the millennium turns. The partygoers are astonished and reawakened as passions flare and ignite, gunshots are fired, battling lovers reunite, and as the new century dawns, all are joined in the curious sense that the best is yet to come.

In the late 1990s, Moncton's Acadian community was forever marked when death struck an high school. In a sweet impressionist film, Samara returns to the city she fled as a teenager to immerse herself in memories that are still buried there, in various places and in dusty boxes containing diaries, photos and VHS tapes. 1999 is not a ghost story, although it is populated by ghosts. The snow-covered streets, corridors and locker rooms of the school are intact, as in a dream, but the absence left by the wave of teenage suicides still resonates with unanswered questions, trauma and regret. Samara meets inspiring people who carry with them great pain and who, 16 years later, can finally comfort each other by breaking a long silence. In the end, the film interweaves different voices and gives rise to a collective reflection on the internalization of mourning and the need to learn to affirm one's desire to survive.

No Mercy (1999) was a PPV presented by Eidos Interactive's Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, which took place on October 17, 1999 at the Gund Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Nine matches, including three championship matches took place. In the first, The Fabulous Moolah competed with ivory for the WWF Women's Championship. In the second title defense, Jeff Jarrett defended the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Chyna. Lastly, Triple H defended the WWF Championship against Steve Austin. Survivor Series (1999) was the thirteenth annual Survivor Series PPV. It was presented by Rent-A-Center, and took place on November 14, 1999 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. The main event was a Triple Threat match–a non-elimination match involving Triple H, The Big Show and The Rock for the WWF Championship. The Big Show was a replacement for Stone Cold Steve Austin, who had been run down by a car earlier in the night. The undercard featured New Age Outlaws versus Al Snow and Mankind for the WWF Tag Team Championship, Chyna versus Chris Jericho for the WWF Intercontinental Championship, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle in his WWF in-ring debut against Shawn Stasiak and several Survivor Series elimination tag team matches.

Souled Out 1999 took place on January 17, 1999 from the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia. The main event was Goldberg versus Scott Hall in a Ladder Stun Gun match, in which the only way to win was to use the stun gun on the opponent. Other matches included Ric & David Flair vs Barry Windham & Curt Hennig, a fatal four way for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship with Billy Kidman defending against Juventud Guerrera, Rey Mysterio, Jr., and Psychosis, Saturn vs Chris Jericho in a wager match, Konnan vs Lex Luger, Wrath vs Bam Bam Bigelow, Fit Finlay vs Van Hammer, Chavo Guerrero, Jr. vs Norman Smiley, and Chris Benoit vs Mike Enos.

WWE Royal Rumble 1999 1999

Royal Rumble (1999) was the twelfth annual Royal Rumble PPV. It took place on January 24, 1999 at the Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim, California. The title was taken from a promise by Mr. McMahon that the first entrant in the Royal Rumble, Steve Austin, had "no chance in hell" of winning the match. The theme song for the event would go on to become the entrance music for McMahon's stable The Corporation and later, just McMahon himself, which he still uses. The main event was the annual Royal Rumble match, which saw the winner receive a title shot for the WWF Championship at the WrestleMania PPV. The Royal Rumble centered around the continuing heated rivalry between Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon. The penultimate match for the WWF Championship was an "I Quit" match between Mankind and The Rock, which is remembered both for its brutality and its place in the documentary film Beyond the Mat. The WWF Intercontinental Championship and WWF Women's Championship were both defended as well.

Uncensored 1999 took place on March 14, 1999 from Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky. The main event was Hollywood Hogan defending the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against Ric Flair in a First Blood Barbed Wire Steel Cage match. A stipulation was the winner would also receive permanent control over the WCW. Scott Steiner defended the WCW World Television Championship against Booker T, Saturn fought Chris Jericho in a Dog Collar match, Barry Windham & Curt Hennig defended the WCW World tag Team Championships against Chris Benoit & Dean Malenko, Bam Bam Bigelow, Raven, and Hak competed in a Falls Count Anywhere Triple Threat match, Jerry Flyn faced Ernest Miller & Sonny Onoo in a Handicap match, Rey Mysterio, Jr. wrestled Kevin Nash, Stevie Ray challenged Vincent to a Harlem Street Fight, and Billy Kidman defended the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Mikey Whipwreck.

Hunter × Hunter is a 1999 television series and is part of the Hunter × Hunter media franchise. The story focuses on a young boy named Gon Freecss, who one day discovers that the father he had always been told was dead is in fact alive and well. He learns that his father, Ging, is a famous "Hunter": an individual who has proven themself an elite member of humanity. Viz Media licensed the Hunter × Hunter anime for distribution in the Region 1 market, where it was released across four DVD boxed-sets. Roughnecks: Starship Troopers Chronicles is a CGI animated television series, based on the novel by Robert A. Heinlein and the 1997 film adaptation. The film's director, Paul Verhoeven, served as executive producer. It follows the exploits of the Mobile Infantry squad, "Razak's Roughnecks," during the SICON–Bugs War between a newly united humanity and an extraterrestrial race, known as the "Bugs," also sometimes referred to as Arachnids. The show focuses mainly on the Roughnecks' missions, rather than addressing the larger war. The show was geared towards an adult-oriented science fiction audience without being too violent, mature or controversial for the Saturday morning age group. The series aired for one season on BKN beginning in August 1999 and in syndication in the United States and Canada. It was later picked up by the Sci-Fi Channel in the US and Teletoon in Canada. The entire series is available to be streamed on Netflix and Crackle in the US, along with several Minisodes. Despite its short run, the series developed a cult following.
